iPhone "Polaroids"

Another bit of photo fun that I feel I should mention is my latest iPhone app obsession, Shake It Photo. I've been looking into different apps to do in-phone tweaking, filtering, toning, etc. I wasn't satisfied with anything I saw till last week I met a photographer named Olivier Renck who showed me Shake It. I was sold immediately. It's cheaper than most other programs similar to it and I think the final result looks a lot better. One thing people bring up is, "can't you just get that look in photoshop?" They're 100% right, but I would never spend the time, even to run it through an action is an extra step I don't want to do. Also, I can upload them via my phone directly to the web or email them out with the tweaked look. It's funny because real polaroids were crappy, small prints and super portable, kind of like how the iPhone is. Here's a couple examples. I've also uploaded a ton to Facebook, you can see them here and here. It's just plain fun.

Some snaps from the past week or two

Here are a couple of pictures from the past week or two or maybe three. I've started not dumping my card from my everyday shooting till it fills up. The biggest I have is a 4 gig card, I get about 140 frames. From just carrying my camera it takes a little while to fill. I'll also take it out and save it for later when shooting gigs or personal project stuff. Its nice, almost like film because I forget some pictures. All of them I ran through light room, might make final versions later of a few of them. Also I'm loving the 50mm Zeiss lens that I got a while back as well.

4th of July 2009

Another Cabin trip has come and gone. Such a great time with so many great friends. I took more photos than I ever had before. I didn't shoot a lot of 4x5 like I wanted and I didn't even brake out the hassey but my canon was around my neck nearly the entire time. I took a lot of pictures that have personal or group significance but there are a couple that I am really happy with as pictures unto themselves. I get so much personal enjoyment out of shooting my friends and they have become so comfortable with my camera I can't thank them all enough for not getting annoyed with me for sticking it in they're face. Here is a tighter edit of a post I made on Facebook.
